The Simplicity of UIU v5 for Small/Medium Business
There are many factors that must be considered when creating or capturing an image with Microsoft Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK/DISM). Unfortunately, many of these factors are variables known only to a select few people in any given organization.
Luckily there are defaults in the industry, such as the fact that most PCs only have one hard drive (Drive 0) and Windows installs its operating system in the C:\Windows path unless otherwise directed.
The UIU v5 as well as Big Bang’s latest release of the UIU for SMB (small and medium business) now offer options to leverage the Windows ADK/DISM tool to quickly facilitate a basic capture and deployment of a Windows operating system based on standardized defaults.
Upon execution from removable media, the ADK Basic Capture will prompt the technician to enter a name for the image to be captured — and voilà, the image will be stored in the preinstalled UIU Repository. (Yes, the image name can be changed after the fact!)
Similarly, the ADK Basic Deploy process will automatically browse the preinstalled UIU Repository for images captured with the ADK Basic Capture process. (Note: The ADK Basic Deploy wizard will allow for any .WIM image to be selected from any accessible path.)
We’ve tried to make the process as simple as humanly possible. Provided you’re using the standard defaults for Microsoft Windows operating systems, it can’t get any easier!
